HealthNet TPO Afghanistan is providing Primary Health Care, Mental Health and psychosocial services, fighting malaria and supporting Mother & Child Health Care in terms of providing training for Community Midwifes and to conduct operation research. Health Net TPO is currently implementing projects in 22 provinces and the major program it implements are Malaria Control program,SEHATMANDI projects in four provinces, nutrition, Mental Health and Psychosocial program through a community system strengthening approach.

- The technical assistance officer will closely work with the Mental Health Director of MoPH and with WHO to provide technical support in the field of mental health and psychosocial.
- Review and provide recommendations where needed for the revision of the current National Mental Health Strategy.
- Assist the department in the implementation of mental health strategic plan.

- Participate in the MHPSS-TWG meetings and internal meetings within the MoPH
- Contribute in the development of operational plans for mental health department and national mental health hospital Kabul.
- Support/participate in implementation of mental health annual work plan.
- As per need facilitate the development/revision of required national guideline /policies documents.
- Support intersectoral collaboration to strengthen mental health issue within different sectors.
- Facilitate the different coordination forms with relevant mental health stakeholders
- Participate in the training conducted by mental health department.
- Provide technical support to mental health department of MoPH.
- Assist in preparing and provision MHD annual/quarterly/monthly reporting.
- Technically support and participate the department in organizing and conducting “World Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Day”.
- Follow up of the mhGAP implementation with stakeholders in the provinces.
- Participate in monitoring/supervision visits from mental health activities in the provinces.

Accountability:

Job Requirements:
- To be Afghan National
- The position is open for both Male/female
- Graduated from a recognized Medical Faculty, Master degree is preferred.
- Familiar with MoPH and mental health strategies and policies.
- Background of working with international organization and MoPH in the field of mental health and psychosocial support.
- Having 10 years’ experience with at least 5 years in the mental health and Psychosocial, preferably previous working experience with MoPH.
- Having good networking and coordination experience with MoPH, BPHS/EPHS implementers and mental health stakeholders.
- Excellent technical knowledge and skills in mental health and psychosocial field.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and excellent interpersonal skills/ team working.

- Fluent in Dari, Pashto and working knowledge of English Language.
